  • Allentown is the third most populated city in Pennsylvania. It is located in the eastern part of the state.


  • The Liberty Bell was hidden from the British during the American Revolutionary War in the basement of the Old Zion Reformed Church of Allentown.

Mountain Laurel

  • The Mountain Laurel is the state flower of Pennsylvania.


  • It is an evergreen shrub with white or pink flowers.


  • The branches of the plants are used to make handrails.

 

Ruffed Grouse - State Bird of Pennsylvania

Ruffed Grouse

  • The state bird of Pennsylvania is the Ruffed Grouse.


  • They are brown and gray birds that live on the ground and seldom fly.


  • Males and females are about the same size.
