  • The wild blueberry is the state berry of Maine. American Indians were the first to collect and eat them.


  • Blueberry sales are increasing because scientific research shows that eating blueberries is good for your health.

  • Maine is famous for delicious lobsters.


  • Adult lobsters weigh from 1-9 pounds (0.5 to 4 kg) and are 7.9-24 inches (20 to 60 cm) long.


  • Lobsters live in shallow cold water where there are many rocks.

 

Lighthouse - Portland Head Light Station in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, USA

Portland Head Light

  • Portland Head Light Station is located in Cape Elizabeth. It's one of the most photographed lighthouses in the U.S.A.


  • George Washington requested that the lighthouse be built. It was completed in 1791 and was made from stones that were found in the area. It was the first lighthouse completed by the federal government under the Lighthouse Act of 1789.
